Computer users often face the problem that their computer works very slow. This can be very frustration when you are doing an important work. Same as any vehicle the computer require regular maintainance in order to avoid sluggishness.

If you are using a standard hard drive instead of solid state drive then you will see fragmentation which slows down read/write times when using programs and accessing or transferring data. Fragmentation happens when a user installs or uninstalls program and move files around. This results in fragmentation and registry errors if the programs are uninstalled incorrectly. In addition this can result in poor performance due to unnecessary simultaneous background tasks and services.

The first task that you should perform is temporary file clean up. This can be performed by using a program like Piriform CCleaner.

CCleaner also features a built in registry cleaner. Simply run the registry cleaner by clicking on scan for virus. After this click fix selected issues. It is recommended that you check the registry before applying the fix.

The next step is to clean up unnecessary programs, tool bars Click on the “tools” tab in CCleaner.

Don’t install more than one antivirus

After you have gone through system clean optimize your Windows start up items. For this Click “Start-> Run->type misconfig->enter. Clicks on the 3rd tab in labeled services then click hide all Microsoft services in the lower left hand corner. Go through that list as you did in the services tab and disable any items that are not required to run in the background.

After you have cleaned up the services with System Configuration click on the next tab in services labeled start up. Go through as you did in the services table and disable items that are not needed to run in startup. Next click on apply and restart your computer.

Now the next step is to perform a disk defragmentation. Click Start-> programs->Accessories-> System tools-> Disk defragmentator. Click Analyze disk then defragment disk.

Then after do a full system scan with your Antivirus program.

After that you should run a full scan with Malware bytes. This will remove any virus, malware that your antivirus may have left.

Set windows automatic backups. Click Start->Control panel->back up and restore->Set up backup->Select the drive to store your backup->Click next->select what items to backup either let windows choose or choose them on your own->Click next->Click on Save settings and run backup

If you are not using Dropbox for file storage and backup it is recommended to install it and replace your My document folder with it. This will enable you to access your files from anywhere and at the same time act as a automatic backup in case of a system crash.
