Wait for sometime
Wait for a few minutes to complete processing. It might appear to be froze but the main reason may be it is slow or busy processing a particular task.

Check if computer is dead locked
See whether computer perform some action after pressing Caps Lock key on the keyboard and see that the Caps Lock led gets turn off and on. If it turns off and on continue to the next stop. If nothing happens then your computer is deadlocked and you should reboot the computer.

Close the not responding program
If the Caps lock turn on and off then it signifies that Windows is still working but the other program may not be responding and result in computer to freeze. Press Ctrl+ Alt + delete to start the Windows Task Manager. In Task Manager highlight the program which is not responding and click on End task.

Reboot
If the above steps did not help reboot your computer. To reboot a frozen computer press the power button until the compute turns off. After the computer turn off, turn the compute on again and let it to reboot. Choose Start Windows normally when it prompts.

Check for any hard ware or device driver issue
After following the above instructions check if the hardware or device drivers are working properly. The reason may be a defective hard drive, video card, stick of RAM or other hardware. A device driver can also cause the computer to freeze if it not updated one conflicting with another driver or not working properly.

If you find any mistake with the hardware then change it immediately to prevent further damage. If your device driver is not working properly then download the latest driver from manufacturer website and install it. You can use another computer to download the driver and install it on your personal computer.
If you are not able to install the latest driver another option is to start the computer in safe mode. After that you can access the device manager and uninstall the hardware device corresponding to the device driver which is not working correctly. Then restart the computer and load Windows normally. Widows should detect the hardware which you uninstalled and try to reinstall the device driver.

This process is enough to fix the issue and stop freezing to occur again. You can also install latest driver to make sure that your computer is up to date.

Try accessing the computer BIOS and disable the hardware that is not working properly. You should replace the hardware as you may not be able to use computer fully if the hardware is disabled.
