1.Log on to your Gmail account. Then Click on “Setting” in the top right hand corner of the account. After that click on “Forwarding and POP/IMAP.”

2. Select Enable IMAP under IMAP Access.

3. Then Click on “Save changes.”

4. Log on to your gmail account. Click on “Tools” on the menu bar. Select “Accounts” option. Click on Add and select “Mail.”

5. Type a particular name for your email client and then click “Next.” After that enter your gmail address. Click on “Next” then “Select IMAP server from the drop down menu.

6. Enter “imap.gmail.com” and “smtp.gmail.com” as the outgoing mail server setting. Then Click Next.

7. Highlight your gmail account and click on “Properties.” Under “Advanced” Tab put a checkmark in both the boxes that read “This server requires a secure connection.” In the first text box enter “465” under outgoing mail server. In the second text box enter the number “993” under incoming mail.

8. Click on the “Servers” tab. Put a checkmark against box that indicates “My server requires authentication”. Clock on “Apply”. Select “OK”

9. Send a test mail using Outlook Express to ensure that your Gmail account works properly.
