Windows restarts without warning

With the invent of Windows XP Microsoft comes with Windows that automatically reboot each time an error occurs like BSod. But if this happens continuously for a longer period of time the user feels irritating and looks for someone to resolve it. The article will show the steps that you should follow to enable or disable this feature in Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8.

  1. On desktop right click on “My computer
  2. Select the properties option
  3. Under system properties Click on the Advanced tab
  4. On advanced tab click the Setting button under Start up and recovery
  5. Under Start up and recovery window uncheck the Automatically restart check box
  6. Click OK

After following the above steps if the computer faces an error then it will not automatically restart and show the error.
Hardware issue or error
Any fault in hardware component could cause your computer to generate an error or reboot without warning. If you have added a new hardware component in your compute then remove it to make sure that it is not the reason for this issue.At the same time make sure that you are not facing any hardware conflicts by checking device manager for errors.

If you have installed a new device driver then it may be the reason behind this cause.If you have made any updates in the driver or remove any hardware then it may be the cause behind issue. It may happen that the memory is bad on your computer.

Check if the memory is bad
Hardware device that are not installed may be the cause behind random reboots. In this case you should disconnect and reconnect the cables and expansion cards.

Computer virus
Computer virus like blaster virus may cause your computer to reboot without any warning. These viruses forces computer to reboot every 5, 10, 15 or 30 minute. Check if the virus scanner definitions are up to date.

Heat issue
Many of the computers are designed such that they automatically turn off or reboot if your computer gets too hot. IF you are observing any abnormal noise coming out of your compute then it may be the fan issue. Check the fan on the power supply is working or not.

A temperature gun can also be used to check how hot the components are

Operating system issue
After following the above steps if you still find that your computer reboots then it may be windows operating issue. To confirm it

  1. Reboot the computer and enter CMOS setup while the computer reboots.
  2. After loading the computer in CMOS set up let the computer sit.

If the computer does not reboot when the computer sit in CMOS then it is Microsoft Windows issue and it is recommended to reinstall Microsoft Windows.
